This product works pretty well for high heat searing and low and slow smoking. The only issue is that it takes away a good portion of the cooking area since the coal basket is so large. I am currently looking up ways to increase the cooking space by adding an elevated rack or a smoker ring attachment. I think this briquette holder I will reserve for the times where I know I want a good sear and use something else for cooks where smoke is the primary concern. The og weber baskets with a diffuser plate above them is probably a better option imo.
Excellent build quality but way too much iron in this alloy to be considered stainless. Purchased before price increase so this may have been already addressed.
Almost fit my giant spider grill. Close enough, help with saving fuel.
So far so good. They are even nice on the 26 Weber kettle
This makes grilling so much easier. Able to create a contained hot and cool zone just by using this basket. Easy to refill during grilling. Hugh time saver
Been using a lot! Probably 3-4 times a week and have had no issues at all, not even a warp, makes it super easy for dual zone cooking. The water tray is nice if you’re cooking something where you want moisture.Would highly recommend this basket
This works very well. I have tried a few of these inserts for my Weber and this is one of the best for turning your kettle into a smoker.
Nice & large. Much heavier metal than I expected. Will last a long time even in heavy use.
This thing works awesome. It’s heavy and I did a great slow cook on it. The holes are plenty big. When doing a long low cook you have to move the coals around a little bit so the ash will fall through…but that’s with any long cook. Well worth the money compared to the SnS model.
Great for my weber kamado, doesn't fit perfect, but is a nice large size
Met physical expectations. Haven't used it yet. Looks well built. Updated review. Love how easy it makes 2 zone cooking and burns charcoal efficiently.
Great
Amazing ! Works well
Very solid construction, used it quite a bit already and it's been great. Fits my 22in Weber Premium Kettle perfect.
Built to last and works great!
I like it, but it could use bigger holes in the bottom. While using the low and slow method, the degraded charcoal ended up blocking the holes a and the temp was hard to regulate. The more coals you added just closed the holes with the charcoal dust. Otherwise, I like it. It's a heavy unit and looks like it'll hold up a long time. Functions almost as it should. It just needs bigger holes. Cleaning is a snap as well.
Was a perfect fit for my 22 inch Weber kettle. Divides my charcoal and creates great indirect heat for smoking.
Good one but still couldn't figure out how it works. It is too slow.
Haven't used yet but looks very well built, heavy duty and great quality. Fits is 22" Weber kettle perfectly.
Sturdy is an understatement with this basket. It is thick, heavy and strong. The water reservoir is a feature you won’t find with some of the less expensive brand offerings making it more versatile with various cooking methods.Easy to use and great design make it well worth the money.
This is the second time I buy this product (the first one was the model with the water trough, which went to a friend when I sold my first Weber kettle - I bought a Weber master touch afterwards). I absolutely love it. I don’t really think adding water in the smoker during the cook makes a difference, so I just love the extra space for more charcoal. This accessory allows me to maintain the temperature inside the kettle easily for 5-6 hours or even longer without any spikes, so it’s perfect for when I want to smoke a brisket, pork butt or chuck roast during the week while I work at home or in the winter, when I don’t want to get out so often to check on my meat. Pair it with a quality wireless probe and you have the perfect setup for smoking meat on your kettle. I’m really becoming a fan of Only Fire products and I find this one the best for my needs.
Makes a Weber a nice smoker. This is also good for cooking then searing.
If you don't need the luxury of a removable water reservoir, then this is the one for you to use with your Weber or other 22" charcoal kettle grill. Well made of heavy gauge steel, welds looks sturdy. Looking forward to see how it does when I smoke brisket. I think the perimeter water reservoir may be superior to the one running straight down the middle. Guess I'll find out soon.
Big hunk of steel- does the job well. Good for hot and fast and low and slow. The only issue are the small holes on the bottom, ash builds up pretty quickly and will block airflow and kill your temperature/coals after 2-3hours. I don't have a grill grate that opens on one side so this is very inconvenient to deal with by having to remove food and grill grate from grill to shake out ash. After cleaning out the ash you'll have spiking temperature issues since all the coals will now be lit. It'll take awhile to bring temps back down/stabilize.Imo good piece of kit, great for searing and hot direct heat and pretty good for low and slow. I'll probably try to increase size of holes on the bottom to hopefully help ash fall through.
Absolutely the best……so much stronger than some others and the genius of the water reservoir being between the kettle and charcoal so as not to damage the paint! What more can I say except make them for the 26” and the ranch kettle, PLEASE!
This charcoal basket works really well. The holes on the bottom allow the ash to fall through but keep the briquettes in. When you are finished cooking it really helps as you can just give the basket a shake to knock the ash off (in a safe place) and then pour the left over briquettes into a container for reuse at a later time. Does not have a water tray.If I wanted that I would just pust some water in a foil tray.
