I bought this attachment for my Weber grill because I love cooking food outside on charcoal. Nothing beats the flavor, and this attachment works great. Nice heat ramp up, even distribution, fits well, great final product. If you are looking for a fun add-on for your 22” Weber kettle, don’t hesitate. You won’t be sorry.
Just made our first pizza! I need a bit more practice, but this will be fun and tasty!
Fits my 22” Weber Performer grill to a “T”.
We used this a number of times (purchased 05/01/2021) but in going to use it most recently two of the three tabs that hold the pizza stone in place (underside of unit) broke off - I guess due to rust? So now the pizza stone will just drop through - making it unusable. We had it covered all the time with the Weber cover for the grill. Thought it might last longer.
I have had mine for two years now. I have used it on a couple different kettle grills. I currently use it on a Req tec Bullseye pellet barbecue. It makes it very easy to control the temperature. I can produce pizzas in about four minutes. I have recommended this to multiple of my friends that Have had my pizza. Now there’s a couple of them in the group. Pizza parties are the best.
You need to learn how to use this:
1) full chimney of lit coals around the back in a C-shape. Use baskets or fire brick to hold coals back. 2)Add 2 splits of wood on top of coals (8" x2" hardwood logs). 3) let it heat up to 500-600 deg on the dome with stone in place. It takes 20-30 min. Use semolina flour on your peel to slide pizzas off. Turn them every 30 seconds or so. Add wood when temps drop below 450 deg. Best pizza you've ever had.
Tried this several times and cannot get the temp above 450F. As soon stone is putin drops to 200F. After 30 minutes pizzas are still uncooked on the top. Awful.
The instructions are terrible. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. If it won't heat up, it won't cook so a total waste of money.
I use this in my rec rec bullseye on full heat. Makes a fantastic pizza in 6 minutes. I've owned stand alone pizza ovens and this insert is better. Highly recommend
Worked great on my Charbroil, now buying another for a gift. In cooler weather, the grill struggled to get the unit hot enough, but works great in the summer.
Ok so I have an actual Wood Fired Oven in my Backyard that I have been using for the past 5 years It was custom built by a Mason from Italy and we had a Pizza Chef stay with us for two weeks from Switzerland to teach me the art of cooking Pizza in the oven, the downside is that my oven is closed in the winter months ....Voila her come this little beauty that cooks Pizza on my Charcoal Kettle Grill...to be honest it is fabulous, great smoky flavor, crispy crusts and easy to use!!!! Light it, wait for the right temperature and cook away. Love this oven and I am looking forward to 4 minute Pizzas all winter long!
This Only Fire Pizza Oven does great job of making pizza on a Weber 22in kettle BBQ. I was worried by some of the reviews [There have been some bad reviews due to a lack of instructions] however,Ii decided to take the plunge and on my first try, I was able to make amazing pizzas [see pics].Some tips/points on making pizza1. I used 1 full chimney [Weber 7429 Rapidfire Chimney Starter]. of coals [Kingford original] and placed at the back of the weber grill.2. The max temp i got was 550 degrees - this was enough to produce great pizza3. I kept pizza in the Only Fire oven for ~ 4-5 mins max4.I placed pizza towards back of oven, and shifted once around half way to get more even charing5. From one Chimney i was able to make 6 pizzas before the temp started to drop south of 450 degreesWe are still experimenting with this but based on my first Pizza attempt i high recommend the OnlyFire Pizza Oven for anyone looking to make great pizza at home
One month in and we already had small spots of rust starting on the finish. That is disappointing.
We really want to make our OnlyFire pizza oven work, but so far we have charred every effort. We are using a charcoal Weber. I asked the company for specific usage directions but have received no reply. I wanted to build a brick pizza oven for my backyard, but thought that this would be the ideal solution. Does anyone have tips on how to use this device (with charcoal)?
Upon opening, it looks good. The stone didn't sit level so I had to bend the tabs to make it sit properly. Was uneven by about 1/4” to 1/2”. There are no instructions included so a little trial and error is needed required. I filled my kettle using one whole chimney starter full of wood lump charcoal.
I was unsure where to place the charcoal so I started with it at the back near the vents. The pic on the website shows flames shooting out the vents. Visually, the pic looks great this did not happen for me. The oven heated to about 400 F. Nowhere near the 800/900 as stated on this site. Maybe I need more fuel? In any case, it would be great to have a little how-to video made up including what fuel sources to use, placement of said fuel in the kettle etc. I’m sure I will get the hang of it but some initial guidance would have been greatly appreciated.
Also something to consider if future design revisions are planned heat resistant handles for when adding more fuel would be a big plus. These babies are hot.
Cheers,
David Grant
First try with this new cookerIt did a fantastic jobI’ll have to work on my process a bitThe crust was a little burntBut I think I know how to correct the problemThe thermometer isn’t well placedAnd didn’t accurately reflect the temperatureCan’t wait to fire it up againShould be a summer of great pizzaUpdateSecond time was much betterPositioned charcoal at the backOf kettleStone didn’t get as hot and no burningThis may take a bit of time to figure outBut it should be fun along the way
An honest opinion! There is a work and progress with the oven ... but once you master it you have a good pizza oven for napolitain style.
This thing is amazing! After having it for a few weeks, i decided to turn it it into a cooking station so i could cook more often and comfortable when using the oven.My recommendation is to place the charcoal around the edges of the grill and not directly under the stone. Cooks evenly and with a good smoky flavor added to the pizza. I used it for cooking other things too with the same amazing results.
Heats up fast and stays hot. Cooked small pizzas for the kids in just s few minute. Our family loves it. Needs to have a longer handle for the spatula.
Theres a bit of a learning curve. The temp showing on the unit is not always the real temp inside. You have to watch the dough closely & turn it every 15-20 seconds so you get the desired crust.Dont trust the temp on the unit. Best to buy a temp gun & monitor it that way.It will take a while to figure it out but it will be worth it.
When you cant afford to build a brick pizza oven, you settle for the next big thing when you dont want the oven on and have many pizzas to make for everyones liking. These pizzas were coming out hot within 5-6 minutes... and gone within 2-3 ?? would def recommend
Works great
Nothing better than the flavour of homemade bbq grilled stone pizza and this pizza oven ticked all the right boxes. Good quality, was actually surprised with the weight of the dome. Washed and dried after use without issues.Note to new users: watch YouTube videos for how to place your hot coals around the outer area for cooking. We wasted a couple pizzas.Bonappetit
Ive cooked around 10 pizzas on the OnlyFire and it is fantastic! It is incredibly well-built, using a heavy gauge steel. The 1 piece form factor is perfect - just remove the Kettle lid and set the OnlyFire on the grill and youre ready to go! The design is great, with the low profile keeping the heat down on the pizza toppings, which is critical to getting the top cooked without burning the crust. The Kettle Pizza requires an additional baking steel option to accomplish this, pushing the price to well over $300, and is not nearly as well-built as the OnlyFire IMO. If you get one, here are a few suggestions:Keep the pizzas small - in the 8-10 range. That makes a huge difference in the cook, as you can easily move the pizzas around on the stone and monitor the crust much better. This also allows you to pull the pizzas towards the front, where the stone isnt quite as hot but heat from the top is radiating back down, cooking the toppings really well. Im finding that most pizza dough recipes that say they make 2 pizzas really make enough for 3. This recipe link is super easy and was the best Ive tried so far: https://youtu.be/c_DrwsGB7OQGet a pair of pizza spinners. That way, you can spin pizzas without lifting the door in the front. This retains the heat on top of the pizza and lets you get the toppings piping hot. You can also use them to slightly lift the pizza edges to monitor the crust. I found these spinners on Amazon for around $10: https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CPS-022-Alfrescamore-Pizza-Spinners/dp/B00N0L5Q6OGet an extra peel if you will be cooking multiple pizzas. That way, you can make a pizza on 1 peel and have it ready to go while using the other one during the cook and to remove the cooked pizza. I use a wooden peel to make the pizza, as the dough seems to slide off of it a little better than the metal one that came with the OnlyFire. I learned that after turning a pizza into a calzone when trying to slide it off the metal peel onto the pizza stone.Use a healthy dose of corn meal on the wooden pizza peel to get your pizza to slide off onto the pizza stone. I had read that using too much would cause the crust to burn, as the corn meal burns easily, but I havent had that problem. If you have a Slow n Sear, Ive found that it works perfectly with the OnlyFire. Using 3/4 of a chimney seems to be the right amount of charcoal to get the center of the stone to 600, which Ive found is the sweet spot.I highly recommend the OnlyFire! It has added yet another dimension to the Weber Kettle grill and pizza night is now an event, with everyone making their own custom pizza.
Works great on my kettle. Love the wood fired taste you get as opposed to cooking in the oven. Recommend this!
What a great design. I've used the other 2, kettle pizza such a pain to set up. I have the serious eats version. Will do a head to head and see results. But design and aesthetics go to the only fire
Works awesome but you need to be careful because it gets hot! I got it up to 700 degrees fairly easy but I ended up burning the first couple. Not the products fault but my own. It will cook the pizza in less than 5 minutes so dont walk away! Once I got it down the pizzas came out awesome!
Overall Im happy with this oven. Im writing this review because I have two different kettle ovens. I have the PizzaQue I use at my cottage that I purchased years ago for only $55. It was not available (at least near that price) so I searched one a little higher quality for my home. As far as they compare they both make good pizza. The only fire is much better looking, better constructed, easier to set up, holds steady temperature for much longer. 1 big chimney of charcoal plus oak chunk is good for 3-4 pizzas at the same temp. Id use a chimney and half for 5-6 pizzas. The temp on my only fire shows around 500f but I cook pizzas in about 4 mins. My pizzaque will show temps of over 700f but the pizzas take 5 mins to cook. So the temp gauges only give you an idea when the ovens ready. The only fire is a little more difficult to not burn the bottom, so setting up the fire very banked u shape in the back is important. I tend to keep the pizzas toward the front. Also its not really possible to keep adding wood chunks for flavor to the only fire, I started using small round log soaked instead of thick kindling. Real wood added is what brings the pizza to the next level.Overall the only fire is great and Im happy I bought it because it looks so nice on the patio at home, and its ease of use. If you dont care about those things and can get a pizzaque for under $100 that is a good option too. If the pizzaque was near the same price point Id get the only fire again.
Fits on my 22 inch weber like a glove.Pizza cooks up perfect.
Love this pizza oven. It works with our grill like a charm. Amazing pizza taste. A bit on the heavy side, but its still manageable to carry around. Highly recommended!!
